PHP 8 Not work with MainWP

Since I updated my websites to PHP 8, unfortunately the synchronisation with MainWP no longer works.

Is this not yet supported or what is the status here?

I’m not sure that I would expect anything in production to work with a version of PHP that has only been in a release version for a week. Do you NEED PHP 8, or are you just excited about it and want it? :slight_smile:

PHP 8.0.0 has been announced for a long time and has been in release for over 4 weeks :wink:
I have no urgent expectations but wanted to ask about this.

Of course I don’t need it but I’m testing it. Maybe a developer of MainWP can tell me more about it?

Hi Duerr,

We still haven’t run full tests on PHP 8, so I would recommend keeping the MainWP server on PHP 7.x

PHP 8 is still pretty new and we will need more time to run tests before we can confirm full compatibility.

Even WordPress is only beta compatible, so it seems to work, but is not fully tested yet. Theme’s and plugins are working on their own code and solving issues they find. They only possible answer could be: we are working on it, but also depend on third parties.

If you want to help, you can always test it on a non production environment and report all the issues you find back to support (if possible with the updated code). Just saying “it doesn’t work yet” means “you just have to wait until it’s fully supported”.
